Lewmar

The Lewmar name is known and respected by boat builders and yacht owners the world over. Lewmar designs and manufactures Steering Systems, Anchoring Systems, Winches, Hatches, Hardware, Portlights, and Bow Thrusters. Since 1950, Lewmar has worked relentlessly on innovations that improve the control, and performance, of the mariner.

Hatches and Portlights

Lewmar hatches are manufactured from the highest quality materials under approved manufacturing methods. Strength, styling, functionality and low maintenance are all elements displayed by Lewmar's hatch range. The comprehensive range includes the Ocean Hatch, Medium Profile Hatch and the Low Profile Hatch.

Lewmar's Standard, Atlantic and Ocean Portlight ranges are complemented by a family look, whilst providing Portlight solutions for Coastal and Ocean sailing. The range ensures solutions for CE Areas 1 and 2.

Bow Thrusters

Maneuvering vessels in today's confines of a busy harbour, or marina can challenge even a skilled crew. Cross winds and tides can be difficult to overcome with conventional propulsion, and steering gear, particularly when "stern to mooring" which is becoming a more common practice around the World. Lewmar Thrusters can help provide additional control just when you need it at the touch of a button, or move of a joystick.

Lewmar have a range of well proven thrusters which suit sail or power vessels from below 30 - 150ft.

Anchor Windlasses

Lewmar have a superb range of windlasses suitable for both the horizontal and vertical application.

The Horizontal windlass is a no-nonsense design widely used by boaters requiring optimum performance from their anchoring system. Boaters who frequently anchor, especially in deep water, require a no hassle self-tailing system. The horizontal windlass offers the best performance with small or unusual locker designs. As the anchor rode enters the gypsy it makes a 90º turn and feeds directly into the anchor locker. a minimum fall of 12"/ 30cm is recommended.

Vertical windlasses provide aesthetic value and offer the added security of the anchor rode making a 180º wrap around the gypsy. The inherent design of the vertical windlass requires at least 12"/ 30cm of fall.

This is to allow gravity to properly self-tail the anchor rode through a 90º vertical turn into the anchor locker. Additionally, nylon line is lightweight and a short fall in a vertical windlass system might prevent the rode from feeding properly into the locker.

CQR Anchors

The performance of the CQR™ anchor is now legendary. The original drop-forged construction of the CQR™ anchor increases its strength and reliability under load which is why genuine CQR™ anchors do not break. The hinged shank delivers consistent setting and holding even in the very worst conditions, whatever the changes in wind and current. The CQR™ anchor has Lloyd's Register Approval as a High Holding Power anchor. 87% of Ocean Cruising Club members choose the CQR™ anchor as their primary and storm anchor. All CQR™ anchors are "guaranteed for life against breakage".

Delta anchor

The Delta™ anchor leads the way in innovative anchor engineering. The high-grade manganese steel used in the construction of the Delta™ anchor gives it maximum tensile strength. Its unique shank profile and ballasted tip make the Delta™ anchor self-launching. The low centre of gravity and self-righting geometry ensure that the Delta™ anchor will set immediately. Consistent and reliable in performance, the Delta™ anchor has Lloyd's Register Type Approval as a High Holding Power anchor and is specified as the primary anchor used by numerous National Lifeboat organisations. Also available in premium grade Duplex/High Tensile stainless steel.

Pilot Hatches

The Pilot Hatch is a sliding hatch styled to match the Low and Medium Profile hatches. It is designed for use on the  Wheelhouse or Cockpit canopy of power craft. The hatch opens up enclosed steering positions allowing the helm and crew to experience the sunshine and fresh air on fine days. Unlike a hatch with a hinged lid, the handle on the Pilot Hatch never moves out of reach or requires lifting from a difficult angle when the hatch is fully open. The lid is moved using a single handle bar that also rotates to seal down the hatch. When full ventilation is not required the lid can also be secured with a 5cm opening. The Pilot Hatch uses Lewmar’s unique seal system for improved sealing and easy servicing. The acrylic can be replaced without the use of sealant. The sliding technology comes from Lewmar’s racing hardware track systems ensuring a minimum of friction.

Elliptical Ports

The Stainless Portlight features a highly polished stainless outer frame with a mirror finish quality.

The handles and hinge systems are from the Standard Portlight and leave the lens clear of obstructions for a cleaner look. It features:

  • ABS Plastic Trim
  • Can be installed with sealant or closed cell PVC tape
  • Easily fitted by clamping the cabin sides between inner and outer frame with screws provided that are fastened into the outer frame
  • Trim with clean styling.
